A nationally recognised training programme which covers the construction of medical terms and looks at various elements, such as the skeletal/locomotor, blood and cardiovascular, Respiratory, and Male and Female reproductive systems. It also covers pharmaceutical and medical specialities.
The course takes a structural approach, focusing on how medical terms are built from a combination of roots, prefixes and suffixes and the recognition of these terms from given definitions. It covers terminology and abbreviations relating to body systems, diagnostic tests, medical specialities, pharmacology and medical qualifications
The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to develop a basic knowledge of how to accurately construct, identify and use a specified range of medical terminology. This is an introductory course to allow students to understand the basic concepts and to act as a taster for the actual level 2 and 3 accredited courses.
